the zook family | welcome home estaya

Liz contacted me about 11 days ago about a family session but at that time, I had no idea the importance.

Her and her husband, Jamie have been through a lot over the past 3.5 years, ever since starting the adoption process of a sweet little girl named Estaya. She was born in the Congo and lived there until 2 weeks ago when she finally arrived in Canada. Legally, she was a Canadian citizen and fully adopted but the country would not let her leave. Liz went and lived there for 7.5 months until the president of the country signed off on her release and they were finally allowed to make the long journey home to Canada.

Thank you Liz, for inviting me in to photograph your sweet, sweet family. Estaya is so incredibly gorgeous and so well behaved, I wish you nothing but the best for you three and look forward to watching your family grow.

Welcome Home Estaya!

15 minutes before we started shooting, it was literally hailing and so super crappy out. But mountain weather was on our side and with the skies opening wide, the session turned out beautifully. Thank you Stacy, Cory and sweet little Harper...you three were seriously the cutest!

Mommy & Me Connection Session – Amy | Salmon Arm Photographer
My sweet friend Amy and I have made somewhat of a tradition taking photos under stressful situations haha. Last year when we did these minis she was on her way to Seattle and waited until after our session to drive there from Salmon Arm, at 9pm! This year she had just picked her boys up from their dad in Chase 15 min before our session started, after driving all the way from Portland, making it just in time for the last little bit of the days light. They had been away from Amy for about a week so this session was full of cuddles and love for their momma.
