the zook family | welcome home estaya

Liz contacted me about 11 days ago about a family session but at that time, I had no idea the importance.

Her and her husband, Jamie have been through a lot over the past 3.5 years, ever since starting the adoption process of a sweet little girl named Estaya. She was born in the Congo and lived there until 2 weeks ago when she finally arrived in Canada. Legally, she was a Canadian citizen and fully adopted but the country would not let her leave. Liz went and lived there for 7.5 months until the president of the country signed off on her release and they were finally allowed to make the long journey home to Canada.

Thank you Liz, for inviting me in to photograph your sweet, sweet family. Estaya is so incredibly gorgeous and so well behaved, I wish you nothing but the best for you three and look forward to watching your family grow.

Welcome Home Estaya!

HAPPY EASTER! Going to keep this post short and sweet :) Soaking in these last few weeks with our baby safe in my belly. It's a catch 22...on one hand I can not wait to be able to run up the stairs, bend over to put my boots on or even breathe but on the other hand, the babe is safe right where it is. I am trying to push away all the fears I have when it comes to the birth (he is still breech and I am terrified of having a c-section), the surgery(s), the unknown future...all of this is completely overwhelming BUT I am keeping calm and level headed. The baby needs to be brought into a world of love and serenity and we will do our best to make ...
