the hobbs farm | edmonton family photographer

I had the incredible privilege to hang out and photograph the Hobbs crew on their farm just outside of Edmonton, Alberta. Jenna and I have been friends on social media for what seems like forever (I can’t even remember for how long haha) and it was so great to final be able to meet and spend some time with her and her beautiful family. I was welcomed Sunday night with wine – yessss – and great conversation and after a good nights sleep we woke up super early (well not really for us, we all have children lol), got the kids fed & dressed and the adults caffeinated, we set out for a tour around their 29 acres. We hoped for fog but the weather had other plans that were just as gorgeous. Hallie, her eldest has such fiery spirit, is guarded at first but is quick to be your best friend. She has such love for her animals and is a total daddy’s girl, I felt like I was staring at myself at age 7. Hanna is just the sweetest thing, very outgoing and loveable. And then there’s the twins…Thea & Beau….Thea is the feisty one that loves to test the waters and Beau is in love with his momma, and honestly the cutest little things. Jenna is a fellow photographer that has the same issue that most of us photographer moms do, we’re not in the photos….so her only request was just that…she wanted to actually be in them for a change!

I hope you enjoy these, Jenna, thank you so much for inviting me into your home :)

I can't get over this shoot. Makes me all emotional (in the good kind of way) looking at these. It makes me think, " this is life, this is what it's all about, this is the kind of stuff I want to remember". Anyways what a beautiful family, so beautifully captured.

The Barrett Family | Alberta Family Photography | Waterton Sessions
I was contacted by Riley back in the summer about surprising his wife with photos for her birthday (guys: take note here...lol) and was so happy to be able to meet them in one of my favourite new places. I have only ever been to Waterton twice but hope to plan many more trips here in the future :) The wind (like my other session) was not afraid to hang out with us that evening, but luckily Riley and his family were from Pincher Creek so they are very used to those heavy southern alberta winds! Thank you again for being so awesome during your shoot, until next time!

I got a phone call from my sister-in-law while we were on our way to New York back in the fall of 2012. She knew we were looking for new day care for Jensen and said her friend from back home (that lived in Red Deer) had space in her small private day home. I wasn't aware at the time the incredible impact Bobbie would have on my sons life. I'm very grateful for all that she has taught Jensen and the experiences he was shown. ...but it is with a heavy heart that we must say goodbye to this family at the end of June. Bobbie's husband was offered a lifetime job up in Kitimat, BC and will be moving at the end of the school year. As a thank you ...
2016 | A year of acceptance
Each year I am blown away by my clients, their willingness to allow me to create memories that will be forever kept and passed down to the wee ones they are squeezing and tickling in each of those images. Sometimes this passion is so strong that it hurts to think about and makes my heart heavy. truth bomb in 3...2...1... This year was an incredibly difficult season for me mentally. Having anxiety and being introverted is tough in this craft and I have definitely struggled this year with balancing the constant overwhelming feeling of doubt and my fear of emails and replying to people via social media - please tell me i'm not the only one ...
