the cornish family | rocky mountain family photographer

So, for those that might not know this woman (but let’s be honest, I know most of you do haha), this is my sweet friend Sarah Cornish of My Four Hens Photography. We have been social media friends for what seems like forever and last weekend we finally had the chance to meet in person in her stretch of the Rockies way down in Colorado! It should come as no surprise that she is just the sweetest, kindest, most honest person. With 6 kids in tow we trekked up to Estes Park, CO and wow, even though I shoot in the Canadian Rockies 90% of the time and have seen my fair share of mountains, the park there is insane with beauty and did not disappoint one bit. I will be the first to admit that after chatting with Sarah and letting her know my plans to come down that way and that she was interested in a session, I kind of wanted to throw up….I was a ball of nerves (not unusual haha) because I have admired and looked up to this woman for at least the past 5 years…… I have this a$$hole that lives in my brain, her name is Doubt……She really loves to make herself known and the weeks leading up to the session was utter chaos in my brain….”You’re not good enough Jayme, now she’s gonna know i’m just a fluke artist Jayme, nothing is going to turn out, Jayme”…….blah blah…but the second Sarah and I hugged and I got to meet all her children that Doubt shrivelled into a pile of dust and all my nerves were put at ease. Guys, I barely had to do anything…Wes had all the tricks up his sleeve to keep the kids occupied, engaged and entertained.

Sarah, I really enjoyed photographing your family and can not wait to show you my Rockies up here!

A family with two rambunctious little boys is the perfect family for me ;) I have a bit experience when it comes to crazy little men haha. I've been following Amy on Instagram (@bell_amy) for a while and am super inspired by her use of light. We had planned on just shooting at the river but I surprised Amy and her boys with a little canoe ride (just in the bay and yes they had life jackets in the boat) at Emerald Lake - one of my absolute favourite places to visit and is a must see for anyone who hasn't experienced it. Loved photographing your family Amy, and hope we can meet again in the future :)

Mommy & Me Connection Session – Chelsea | Salmon Arm Photographer
Chelsea and her crew came all the way from Kelowna for their mini session and they came prepared! Hair, make up, custom dresses, the whole package! Chelsea's little girl had a custom dress made from an amazing local designer (Nook Designs) that were made with 100 year old bone beads that were given to her from a tribe on the island (if I remember correctly!). These were paired with custom shorts for her sweet little man and everything just came together perfectly! Chelsea's dress is actually made by a designer in Victoria (Reclamation) out of old lace from a curtain, seriously gorgeous. SaveSave
