shop the skinny | alberta brand photographer

The boys and I set out to the mountains at the beginning of November to enjoy one of the last – and very unusual – warm days of the year (it was 14C degrees that day!) for one of our favourite shops in Edmonton, Shop The Skinny! We stayed at one of our favourite places in Dead Man’s Flats and it has the cutest little abandoned cabin & windmill ever. I’ve been wanting to photograph the boys here forever and now was the perfect opportunity!

After lunch we zipped up the mountain to spray lakes and pulled over at the absolutely most gorgeous location. It was so perfect….the crisp smell of the trees and fresh snow…..I could believe how quiet it was, not a sound but the wind through the trees. Then out of nowhere appeared a little whisky jack….and then three more….then another four! I had no idea they were so friendly and then came right over and jensen was able to feed a few of them. He was thrilled!

For anyone that doesn't know the story of how Lucas and I met...this will give you an idea. I'll keep it short but to summarize, I had an appointment in Dec of 2008 with the one and only Lucas Ford. He's a very sought after tattooer in these parts so I was lucky enough to sneak in an appointment. Little did I know it would lead to a wonderful marriage, an incredibly smart step son and two of our own beautiful boys.... ...oh, and now he gets a free photography service ;) lol Camera used: Rolleiflex 3.5f MX-EVS Film Used: XP2 +1, Tri-X, Portra 800 (forgot about that green hue it adds lol oops)
