red deer engagement photographer ➾ melissa&sheldon

When I first met up with this wonderful couple, it started out as many consults do, chatting about the proposal, where they are from…etc. It turned out that we had both grown up in BC (myself in the Shuswap and them in the Kootenay’s) and moved to Alberta around the same time. As we were chatting Melissa had mentioned that she knew one of  the families that I had shot in the summer. Being intrigued, I asked her which family….it turns out, her and Sheldon were good friends with my best friend Brett and her husband Tyler, from back home! They had had the same group of friend when they were all living in the Cranbrook/Creston area back in early 2000’s. It’s a small world we live in and i’m thrilled that Melissa and Sheldon chose me to help share this new chapter in their lives.

This session is also a bit of a milestone for me, as it was my first professional session shooting with digital and film. I was so in love with the film images I decided to only blog those. I’m excited to include more and more film into my work :)

Camera’s Used: Rolleifelx 3.5f MX-EVS & Mamiya 645 Pro TL

A few weeks ago I decided to test out a bunch of different cameras and film stock in the same environment, with a somewhat willing 3 1/2 year old. There is this little spot in the house that has the most beautiful light around 10am, so I bribed asked jensen if he would help mommy with an experiment. I was super happy with the results and even though I thought I totally killed the roll of Delta 3200, it actually turned out really pretty. First up is my Leica M3 & Fuji 400H...I may or may not have gasped at the shot of Jensen's back.... Leica M3 & Delta 3200 (pulled 2 stops) - These turned out so soft and beautiful, I love the del ...
The Prouty Homestead | Wildflowers Reunion
I met up with all the Wildflower ladies this past August for one last hurrah at the Prouty homestead before they pack up and head down south to Austin, Texas! This place holds such a special spot in my heart...not only because I have so much love for the Prouty clan, but this is also where Lucas and I renewed our vows last October. I can't even begin to start to tell you how much this woman's love and friendship means to me. Not only because she pushes me to be better but for the women she has introduced me to. Women that feed my soul and truly understand what we, as mothers and business women, go through on the daily. Forever grateful. ...
