new year, new adventures

Ok, so I had mentioned on my instagram a few weeks back that I was about to embark on a video adventure…I had no idea how much it would really impact the direction I want my photography to go. I originally said that I was going to do a 30 day project but I got way too much footage over the christmas holidays that it would have ended up being 30 minutes long haha. I managed to dwindle what I had down to just over 6 minutes (way over my 2.5 minute goal, ha!) and for this being my first video, i’m pretty proud of myself for following through and having this to look back on in the future. Below is also a few photos from our BC adventure!

With all that said, I am pleased to announce that I will be including video – at no extra cost – for all my clients that book package #3 in the 30 days (for spring/summer sessions this year). Please email me at for 2015 package information.

All video was shot hand held (which is pretty obvious haha) with my canon 5D M3 & 35mm 1.4 sigma…nothing fancy

This is probably one of the most beautiful places in Banff National Park....but holy is it ever packed with tourists (tourists that would literally stand directly in front of me and to take photos of my kids *eye roll*) This shoot was sooooo difficult to navigate but I somehow managed to uniquely position myself so hide all the tourists behind trees lol (I did include one images with a few in there so you can have an idea of what I was working with!). For being October it was still relatively decent out weather wise and we managed to get a bit of hiking in without the kids complaining about being cold, win for me! haha   Clothes: Zara ...

I find, more often than not, thoughts are hard for me to get out....i'm not sure how I can accurately describe the feelings I had when looking through these photos but I do know that my heart aches (in a very good way) for the amount of love I see through Joy's eyes. After our renewal vows were spoken, we spent the next day with Joy doing some family photos...we gathered egg & apples, picked the most beautiful dahlias from a farm that runs on the honour system, frolicked in the most magical trees (it was seriously straight out of a fairytale), and found a secret forrest in the shape of an abandoned lot (thank you for finding that place ...

A family with two rambunctious little boys is the perfect family for me ;) I have a bit experience when it comes to crazy little men haha. I've been following Amy on Instagram (@bell_amy) for a while and am super inspired by her use of light. We had planned on just shooting at the river but I surprised Amy and her boys with a little canoe ride (just in the bay and yes they had life jackets in the boat) at Emerald Lake - one of my absolute favourite places to visit and is a must see for anyone who hasn't experienced it. Loved photographing your family Amy, and hope we can meet again in the future :)
