moraine lake elopement | rocky mountain elopement photographer

I think I have found a new love. Elopements are such a beautiful intimate setting for two people to share their vows and express their love for one another. Why not save a ton of money and plan an adventure in the mountains (or wherever!) with just the two of you or only the closest of family members?! Well, and me of course ;)

Dust & Kitty traveled all the way from Hong Kong for photos at Moraine Lake! While they technically got married a few months prior, they did not have a photographer at their wedding. Dust is a fellow tattooer and a good friend of my husbands, so when he emailed me and asked if I would photograph their “elopement” I was thrilled!

It was a moody rainy day in September and the clouds and light rain made it that much more intimate. They cuddled under a big plaid (obviously) blanket and then decided to take a chance and get in the water….yikes! It was terribly cold but they didn’t complain once.

Congrats to you guys and can’t wait to see you again this summer!

When I first met up with this wonderful couple, it started out as many consults do, chatting about the proposal, where they are from...etc. It turned out that we had both grown up in BC (myself in the Shuswap and them in the Kootenay's) and moved to Alberta around the same time. As we were chatting Melissa had mentioned that she knew one of  the families that I had shot in the summer. Being intrigued, I asked her which family....it turns out, her and Sheldon were good friends with my best friend Brett and her husband Tyler, from back home! They had had the same group of friend when they were all living in the Cranbrook/Creston area back in ea ...

Jayme – 6 months | red deer family photographer
Sweet Jayme is 6 months and since Aislinn was still pretty unsure of her new sister when we did Jayme's newborn photos, we decided to focus mostly on their connection for this one. These two were in such good moods on Sunday and I am so happy I got to see such genuine interactions between them. Towards the end of the session, little Jayme slipped down and bumped her head on the arm of the couch and was notably upset. The last shot is probably one of my favourites shots ever. A loving tender moment between mother and daughter, that little tear just kills me....

ya'll.....this session was SOO much fun! My incredible Wildflowers sister Helen Joy and her family traveled ALL the way from Asheville, SC and met me in the Rockies for an incredible family connection session. I first met Helen Joy last year at Joy's wildflowers workshop reunion. Let me tell you about this woman....she has an infections laugh, huge heart, and a way with words that tears deep into your soul....that type of personality that you can't help but be drawn to. Back in Aug of last year, after the reunion, myself, Helen Joy and our good friend Amanda spent the day together traveling around Mt. Baker in Washington. It was probably o ...
