moraine lake elopement | rocky mountain elopement photographer

I think I have found a new love. Elopements are such a beautiful intimate setting for two people to share their vows and express their love for one another. Why not save a ton of money and plan an adventure in the mountains (or wherever!) with just the two of you or only the closest of family members?! Well, and me of course ;)

Dust & Kitty traveled all the way from Hong Kong for photos at Moraine Lake! While they technically got married a few months prior, they did not have a photographer at their wedding. Dust is a fellow tattooer and a good friend of my husbands, so when he emailed me and asked if I would photograph their “elopement” I was thrilled!

It was a moody rainy day in September and the clouds and light rain made it that much more intimate. They cuddled under a big plaid (obviously) blanket and then decided to take a chance and get in the water….yikes! It was terribly cold but they didn’t complain once.

Congrats to you guys and can’t wait to see you again this summer!

There is a bit of a tradition in the brides family that was passed on to Tommy at their reception. When any of the kids wanted to talk with their dad in confidence he would invite them out to the garage so he could smoke his pipe and not be bothered with interruptions from their mom (she didn't like the smell of the smoke) so on every kids 18th birthday he would buy them their own special pipe so they could join in. Liz contacted me about 11 days ago about a family session but at that time, I had no idea the importance. Her and her husband, Jamie have been through a lot over the past 3.5 years, ever since starting the adoption process of a sweet little girl named Estaya. She was born in the Congo and lived there until 2 weeks ago when she finally arrived in Canada. Legally, she was a Canadian citizen and fully adopted but the country would not let her leave. Liz went and lived there for 7.5 months until the president of the country signed off on her release and they were finally allowed to make the long journey home to Canada. Thank you Liz, for in ...
