moraine lake elopement | rocky mountain elopement photographer

I think I have found a new love. Elopements are such a beautiful intimate setting for two people to share their vows and express their love for one another. Why not save a ton of money and plan an adventure in the mountains (or wherever!) with just the two of you or only the closest of family members?! Well, and me of course ;)

Dust & Kitty traveled all the way from Hong Kong for photos at Moraine Lake! While they technically got married a few months prior, they did not have a photographer at their wedding. Dust is a fellow tattooer and a good friend of my husbands, so when he emailed me and asked if I would photograph their “elopement” I was thrilled!

It was a moody rainy day in September and the clouds and light rain made it that much more intimate. They cuddled under a big plaid (obviously) blanket and then decided to take a chance and get in the water….yikes! It was terribly cold but they didn’t complain once.

Congrats to you guys and can’t wait to see you again this summer!

A Farewell Story | Red Deer Family Photographer
I first told the story of my dear friends Kat & Aaron's big move to Salt Spring Island back in May and now I have had the honour of telling Kat's parents story. Their farm has been in the family since 1905 (home to 5 generations) and they have recently made the tough decision to sell their property - closing date was today! - to make the same move that Kat did. It was a bitter sweet day filled with stories, jokes, chocolate, tears and horses. Kat's brother and sister made the trip up from Vancouver just to say one final goodbye to the place they grew up. Abby said goodbye to her favourite pony although her new owners have agreed to wee ...

What a wonderful week I had last week...not only did I get to spend heaps of great quality time with my two oldest friends (we all met at baseball in 1996) but I also got to photograph them and their beautiful families! Leah-anne holds a HUGE place in my heart. We have a special bond that no one else will ever understand. Not to mention she shares her birthday with my Mom and son! I adore you and your family <3 enjoy.

My, what a year it has been
To try to describe what this year has been like, emotionally and mentally, would be impossible. It hasn't quit been a year since I photographed Jensen & Hudson when we first brought Hudson home but, it was snowing out yesterday, which - like most people in Alberta this time of year - really bummed me out...and what do I do when i'm bummed out? I take photos. I did the same thing when we found out about Hudson's heart. Photography is my therapy, it pulls me out of whatever funk i'm in, making me focus on whats right in front of me. Being able to create is such a gift and I am so fortunate to have an outlet.  I have been using this same qui ...
