Our little baby Hudson arrived at 8:17pm on April 18th. I ended up having a natural breech labour and had him out in 17 min!
Long story short, we waited 10 days for the doctors to decide what to do for his surgery and on Tuesday April 30th, they set a date for that Thursday. I was so anxious to get things moving so we could get home but also completely terrified. On the morning of May 2, I handed over my 14 day old son to have one of his three open heart surgeries. The hardest moment of my life so far.
After an excruciating 6.5 hour wait, the surgeon came out and said everything went very well...Lucas and I broke down crying with relief. H ...

HAPPY EASTER! Going to keep this post short and sweet :)
Soaking in these last few weeks with our baby safe in my belly. It's a catch 22...on one hand I can not wait to be able to run up the stairs, bend over to put my boots on or even breathe but on the other hand, the babe is safe right where it is. I am trying to push away all the fears I have when it comes to the birth (he is still breech and I am terrified of having a c-section), the surgery(s), the unknown future...all of this is completely overwhelming BUT I am keeping calm and level headed. The baby needs to be brought into a world of love and serenity and we will do our best to make ...

A HUGE thank you to Brittany from www.brittanyesther.com/blog/ for coming all the way up from Canmore to do our gorgeous maternity photos...I could not be happier with them <3
A bit of an update on our little one....
We went to our consultation in Edmonton on Monday & Tuesday and lets just say it was a lot to take in and a pretty huge reality check. This was no longer just a story that I keep repeating to others, we actually have to do this. We got to talk with a few doctors and social workers and got a run down on what's going to happen once the baby is born, which is scary enough in itself. I will give birth at the Royal Alexander ...

Now for the good news....
....but first I would just like to say thank you....
Thank you for all the messages, comments, support, prayers, thoughts, positive energy and all around LOVE. We feel it coming heavy our way and I can not thank everyone enough :) I would also like to thank Lucas....for putting up with my super hormonal self lately, all that bad news mixed with being pregnant is not the greatest combination. He has been nothing but supportive and a rock for this family and I can never tell him enough...I love you babe.
I was not looking forward to Wednesday....I stressed about it all week. I would get excited for the other appoint ...

This was a tough, tough week.....My mom flew up from BC to be with us for this appointment, which I am so thankful for.
Our appointment on Wednesday was less than stellar. We found out that, while the fluid that was around his lungs dissipated on the right side, it doubled on the left, perplexing the doctors. They have no idea whats going on or why this is happening. At this time all we can do is wait until next week to see how the progress goes and where we need to go from there. We were informed that if the pleural effusion gets worse that we will have to fly to Toronto in the next few weeks to have a drain put in the baby's chest wall to ...

This past week we had our follow up appointment in Calgary...and while we had lots of our questions answered, a whole new pile arose. This weeks ultrasound showed that the baby's left ventricle is not growing very much and might be too small to repair. Meaning our best case scenario will now be our worst case, making the heart into a single pump. Not what we wanted to hear....
The other thing that was brought to our attention was there is now fluid in the baby's lungs...the doctor said this could just be a viral infection (we had all been sick for the month of January so it's entirely possible) OR it could be something more serious...a chrom ...
