I saw a quote the other day that really resonated with me...this explains perfectly why I am moving farther away from digital...
"Shooting Digital is like marrying that sensible girl - the one that went to Wellesley, from a good family and wears well made comfortable shoes. Sure, in many respects she'll make a good wife, but after a while the marriage might feel a little hollow. On the other hand, shooting film would be like marrying a flaky artist. She's quirky and maddeningly disorganized. She can't be trusted with a credit card or to pick the kids up from soccer practice on time. But she's just a beautiful person inside and out and makes ...

For anyone that doesn't know the story of how Lucas and I met...this will give you an idea.
I'll keep it short but to summarize, I had an appointment in Dec of 2008 with the one and only Lucas Ford. He's a very sought after tattooer in these parts so I was lucky enough to sneak in an appointment. Little did I know it would lead to a wonderful marriage, an incredibly smart step son and two of our own beautiful boys....
...oh, and now he gets a free photography service ;) lol

This week has been a tough one with my little Jensen. Pushing boundaries and seeing how far he can take certain situations, talking back and being utterly defiant. It's been a struggle but I am trying my hardest to kill him with kindness so to speak and not resorting to giving "time outs" like I used to in the past (clearly not working anymore) Instead offering solutions based on options. i.e.. instead of "eat your dinner or you're going right to bed", I offer him a choice - "Would you like to stay here and eat your dinner or would you like to go straight to bed?" It takes his train of thought from, 'this is what I want to do' to 'these are ...

This week was all about weather and "firsts"
We went from piles and piles of snow shovelling to a wonderful little chinook from Hawaii (+10!)
Hudson started waving the cutest little wave and we also spied the beginnings of a tooth!

With H1N1 running ramped in Alberta and the INSANE amount of snow we've had, we've been spending A LOT of time at home *insert cabin fever here*
So I set up a cozy new reading nook on the top bunk of Jensen's room and he's been occupying that space frequently, scanned all of Jensen's art and crafts, purged our closets and did ALL the laundry AND put it away! (that is a feat all its own)

There's not much that's more exciting to me than awaiting the arrival of film scans...it's seriously like Christmas.
The only downside is that I have the patience of a toddler.....

I try not to make resolutions or focus too much on what "needs to be fixed" this time of year...Instead I try to think of something that I would love to look back on; a summary of sorts. I'm no good with words, so journalling never works. I would always give myself a really hard time about not documenting my feelings through certain life events. To the point where I would get incredibly stressed out thinking I would not be leaving something tangible for my boys to read in the future. But it occurred to me about a month ago while in Nashville with some amazing colleagues, that I am documenting. In my own little way....I can tell anyone what I, ...
